Luscious Lippy lips

I’ve never been a fan of wearing lipstick; the smell, weight, texture; I couldn't hack it.  I know, total Wimp!  However I have such bad circulation that when the temperature drops below 15 degrees, my lips turn such a deathly colour its unreal. To the point that people would ask if I feel poorly; amazing if you needed to get out of doing something.
An obsession with juicy tubes began and other such lip glaze’s, to prevent people worrying over me and my odd lip colour.  But the glazes would often create a hazard for my hair and I’d seem to go through them way too quickly for the price. Vaseline mixed with a cheepo lipstick created a D.I.Y tinted lip balm and was a pound-stretching choice but it was also a bit faffy, if needing to reapply in a hurry.

Once I started to become more conscious about what conventional products contained, I realised it was time to look beyond the common high street beauty store.  When I did, I was overwhelmed with how much choice there was for lips like mine and that was 6 years ago.

With the choice that there is now, there surely has to be a natural lip product that meets everyone’s needs and wants.

The following are mainly favourites of mine and I've put the pictures of them first in case you can't be bothered to read what I think about them, Ha!

Content beauty stock all of the products in the images, so if you really need to see the colours for yourself the shop is based in London.  The little make-up, skin care and health boutique is located in Marylebone. Not convenient for everyone but if you're stuck between a couple of colours, they might send you a sample or two to help you decide.

Not as pale as they can get but still...!

Sorry if my attempt at pouting got a bit annoying but I had to at least try and show these lovely lip shades off, ha!

Hurraw Lip Balm

In a nutshell:

  • Flavoured lip balms
  • Nourishing
  • Tinted lip balm available
  • Doesn't melt in your pocket
  • Spf 15 lip balm available

Love it!  This is my favourite lip balm company so far, their ethics, their product and their prices are all easy to digest. The Cherry tinted lip balm is permanently placed in my pocket.
This could be the cherry chap-stick that Katy Perry sung about when she “kissed a girl”  It smells divine.  Its also a great universal and wearable shade.
Although I have to be honest and say, because they are natural they can vary in colour. I had bought one last week that didn't offer as much colour as the one before (new one in the image above the one I had before was about two times as dark), but that was the first lighter shade out of about 10 that I have bought previously.  So hey ho, for the price and the moisturising ability I’m not fussed, I still love them!

Hawraw balms don’t melt in your pocket either, something I think is bloomin amazing! Making it the perfect balm to take away on your jollies.

The practical, simple packaging makes it easy to reapply with out dipping any fingers, yey!
The night time treatment balm in Blue chamomile & vanilla flavour, has a slightly thicker texture and because of this, it lasts longer and feels lurv-vely when you purse your lips together.

They also do an SPF 15 Orange and Chamomile which has a scrummy scent which kind of reminds me a bit of a chocolatey orange scent...it does leave an ever so slightly pale tint on your lips (so pale some of you won’t even notice, but it will be more noticeable if you have dry lips) however you won’t look like a cricketer!  Its loads loads more subtle than a sun-block.

ADVICE: Try to buy from retailers that have a quick turn around of natural products like Content Beauty.
I've bought a couple from other retailers where they have probably sat for longer on the shelves and the scent isn't as fresh, although, the product did still perform.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain

In a nutshell:

  • A pink stain
  • Balm texture
  • Reacts with your personal ph to compliment your skins undertone
An Amazing clever little stick that’s a stain, which acts with your own acid mantle/ph level making the colour unique to your lips   It’s a pinky coloured stain with a balm texture.  The balm wears off sooner than the colour, however a simple top up with a clear balm helps to keep this looking freshly applied.  Although it’s a pink colour, I know some people who have said it has turned slightly peach/pink colour on them.  On me it turns pink (see image). If you apply several layers it will develop into a stronger/brighter colour.

Ilia Lispticks
In a nutshell:

  • Amazing choice of colours, from modern to vintage.
  • full coverage and lip conditioners available
  • Nourishing
  • No added perfume
For someone who wasn't a fan of wearing lipstick, Ilia has kind of converted me, because they are so comfortable to wear!
I prefer to wear Ilias tinted lip conditioners, however I like wearing ‘In my room’. ‘Wild Child’ is the only red that I put on my lips and thought “Blimey! I think I could wear this in company!”

Ilias textures, don’t make my lips feel weird; as if they are carrying some extra weight or as if I've put perfume on my lips.

Ilias ‘Bang Bang’ Lip conditioner is also a good red, with enough colour to make it look like a satin lipstick if layered up. Arabian nights is also a nice blackberry shade.  The tinted lip conditioner shellshock is also a favourite of mine. Dizzy is an admirable spring-summer shade which can also be mixed with other colours in Ilias collection to add warmth and create your own unique shade.
I gave my mum ‘Dizzy’ as a gift and loves it, phew!.  She said its been a colour she had been hunting for, for years...massive brownie points for me then!

Vapour lipgloss
In a nutshell:

  • Lovely colours and sheen
  • However not much staying power
  • If layered up with a lip balm they tend to stay for longer
Great wearable colours, I’m a fan of Honour, Trust and Vivid. However the product doesn't stay on my lips for long but neither did most lips glaze’s that contained chemicals, so I kind of think; If I want a glossy finish I might as well use what’s not going to harm me, long term.
They’re quite a watery consistency (not gloopy or sticky), so its hard to build colour without it feeling like its about to run off your lip.
However! By pairing Vivid up with the Hurraw cherry lip tint adds a little more colour and seems to give the lip gloss some more staying power.
Like wise if you wear the harraw night time balm under vapour lipgloss’, it can help to make them stay on for a little longer.

R M S
In a nutshell:

  • comfortable to wear
  • Natural and flattering colours
  • Glass pots with tin lids
  • Retractable brush available to pair up with them
Lovely pots of colour, sheens and full colour available.
Retractable brush available to pair up with the cosmetic pots to avoid finger dipping.
I’m a fan of smile lip2cheek and Bloom lip shine.  I have seen Modest Lip2cheek look particularly nice on women who have more yellow undertones to their skin and a little goes a long way.
Personally even though I like Rms's lip products, I prefer packaging that is in the form of a retractable stick.

All of the above are available from content beauty.

Burts Bees Tinted Lip Shines

In a nutshell:

  • wearable colours
  • If they become quite warm they can be awkward to reapply.
Pink Blossom as well as Tiger Lilly are my two favourite shades. Although it does turn very soft if it sits in your pocket, which makes it a little tricky and messy when you’re reapplying.

Burts Bee's available from boots

Below are some more colours I had gotten for my make-up kit from Ilia.  Thought I would pop them on this post so you can have a nosey...
Plus a photo of Vapour's Aura Multi-Blush in spark, is on the end of this picture reel...
