Mascara Missions
Mascara is my “can’t live with out” product, however finding the right one is a mission that sometimes feels like an impossible one. Hygiene laws make it difficult to try before you buy. Its not just the mascara fluid that needs to be tested but the brush as well. This combines to make it very tricky, expensive and at times a boring chore.
The mascara I settled with was Lancome Hypnose. One coat would be sufficient but on some nights for a glamour statement or a sixties feel, up to four coats were lashed on! It didn’t flake either, ace!
However, about five years ago make-up made with natural ingredients’ became a passion of mine and so Mission Mascara II, began!
When I started to search, I wanted to use the look Hypnose mascara gave my lashes as a visual reference, to compare the more natural mascaras against.
The following is a glance of my rating of the brands I have tried so far and how they sat on my lashes. What follows that, is a detailed description of the reasons behind my scoring and images to show you what they look like.

Builds well and you can pair it up with a lash conditioner to try and achieve even more volume. The conditioner acts as a primer so it will foresee that your mascara stays on for longer while nurturing your lashes. However I feel even with out the conditioner, the mascara alone gives me enough volume for my lashes.
*Free of shellac, lacquers and petroleum
*Other mascaras available from J.I that are Vegan and gluten free as this one isn’t.

You can’t really “layer up” this mascara, however it offers a lovely feathery look, with soft definition. Its a great one to wear for a “I’m not wearing any mascara” look and get away with it. However your lashes feel dressed enough to give you the definition you feel you may need for the street.
Genius packaging which prevents wastage as there's no mascara congealing at the top of the tube.
This products sits very pretty, like a quality mascara should and doesn't flake.
The rubbery brush isn’t normally my cup of tea, however it works well with the product.
TIP:I sometimes double this up as a decent long wear eye liner too.
NATorigin Lengthening Mascara
I hadn’t done any research on this mascara prior to receiving it. It was given to me by a friend to try; I was pleasantly surprised by both!

Developed mindful of those with sensitivity to makeup, this product performs really well its very Similar in performance to Jane Iredale, however it does eventually start to flake but you’re talking a good five hours before it does and to say its 98% natural that’s pretty good! Plus I do like to wear quite a few layers on my lashes, so maybe if only one or two layers are applied it wouldn’t flake at all…
Inika and Studio 78 Paris (image below)weren't what I was looking for and I felt disappointed with the performance of both.
Inika's mascara wand was for too big for my likening however the mascara wand of Studio 78 Paris was pretty good. Both of the mascaras flake on me, which was the main problem I had with them.
Also when studio 78 paris flakes onto your cheak bone/undereye, it some how absorbs moisture/oil and instead of being dry flakes that are easily brushed away, the flakes from this mascara become almost like an ink pen, so if you wipe them away they draw a black line, you have to almost try and pick them off to prevent creating a mess. I found that hard work, not what I want from a mascara.
However not everyone agrees, so check out the links below to see what other people are saying about them...
Most of the above mascaras are available from content beauty
